UNKNOWN DISEASE 2002 SEASON WIPED OUT ALL PLANTS A yellowing of the main vine leaves slowly spread its death through the plant. Stunting and yellowing the Leaves. Several other cases were reported around North America. Possibilities: High pH cut off Iron supply, low pH cut off food supply, soil born disease, Root Nematodes. pH came in low (6.6) at mound but high (6.8 - 7.0)in the rest of the patch. To date all efforts have failed; I've temporarily retired from Pumpkin Growing to let the disease die off. Comments welcome. Below are pictures of the disease. |
